Components of the Computer System
These are those things that makes up the computer system
1. Hardware
2. Software
3. Lifeware/Peopleware/Humanware
Hardware: These are those parts of the
computer system that can be felt seen and touched e.g monitor, keyboard, mouse,
CPU, etc.
Monitor: The monitor displays the content and
operations of the computer (Central Processing Unit) it is also known as Visual
Display Unit (VDU).
CPU (Central Processing Unit): This is where the internal components
of the computer are
stored and it is also the main brain of the computer.
stored and it is also the main brain of the computer.
The hardware is subdivided into three units namely:
1. Input unit
2. System processing unit
3. Output unit
Input Unit: These are the unit that enables the
user to interact or communicate with the computer system e.g keyboard, mouse,
joy-stick, light-pen.
System Processing Unit: This is a metal box that contains the
C.P.U, mobo/mother board/main board,
FDD, HDD, CDD, PCB
FDD – Floppy disk drive
HDD – Hard disk drive
CDD – Compact disk drive
PCB – Printable circuit board
The system unit comes in two forms i.e
Output unit: It is the unit through which the computer
communicates back to the user e.g printer, plotter, speaker, monitor, projector
etc.
