WINDOWS KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
Shortcuts are
small icons files created from executable files, documents, or folders.
Double-clicking on them opens the program, folder, or document from which you
created them. Many people place shortcuts on the desktop, where they will easy
reach.
You can also
place shortcuts on the Quick Launch tool bar on the task bar, making them
always available, even when other programs are active.
Below is a
listing of Windows keys that can be used on computers running a Microsoft Windows
operating system and using a keyboard with a Windows key. In the below list of
shortcuts, the Windows key is represented by “WINKEY”.
It is highly
recommended that all users keep a good reference of the below shortcut keys
and/ or try to memorize the below keys. Doing so will dramatically increase
your productivity.
WINKEY
+ D Brings
the desktop to the top of all other windows.
WINKEY + M Minimizes all
windows.
WINKEY + SHIFT + M Undo the
minimize done by WINKEY + M and WINKEY + D.
WINKEY + E Open
Microsoft explorer.
WINKEY + Tab Cycle
through open programs through the taskbar.
WINKEY + F Display the
Windows Search/ Find feature.
WINKEY + CTRL + F Display
the search for computers window
WINKEY + F1 Display
the Microsoft Windows help.
WINKEY + R Open
the run window.
WINKEY + Pause/ Break key Open the system
properties window.
WINKEY + U Open Utility
Manager.
WINKEY + L Lock the
computer (Windows XP and above only).
F1: Universal help in almost every
Windows program.
CTRL + ESC: Open start menu
ALT + TAB: Switch between open programs
ALT + F4: Quit program
SHIFT + DELETE: Delete item permanently
