CTRL + X: Cut

SHIFT + DELETE: Delete selection immediately, without moving the item to the recycle bin.

Shortcuts are small icons files created from executable files, documents, or folders. Double-clicking on them opens the program, folder, or document from which you created them. Many people place shortcuts on the desktop, where they will easy reach.

You can also place shortcuts on the Quick Launch tool bar on the task bar, making them always available, even when other programs are active.

1.      Desktop: The screen space covered by the windows

3.      Title Bar: This is the first line across the top of the windows that identifies the name of the document and the application.

4.      Mouse Pointer: This has different shapes in appearance dependent on the current operation taking place. It appears as a pointed arrow which helps select different application.

Microsoft Windows is multitasking operating system software that allows multiple applications to run or execute task on its interface. For example, in windows environment, a user can perform the task of playing and Audio CD while he/she is typing a document.

Microsoft Windows is an operating environment created by Microsoft that provides an interface known as Graphical User Interface (GUI) for IBM compatible computers. Windows eliminates the need for a user to have to type a command at a command line, like Ms-DOS, by using a mouse to navigate through drop-down menus, dialog boxes, buttons, tabs and icons.

Graphical user interface (GUI) has now become the de-facto standard for most of the software applications. Gone are the days of the crude character based interfaces of UNIX and DOS applications. Today’s software applications and products provide the users with intuitive, graphical and easy to use interfaces. Now the users do not have to remember the cryptic system commands or shortcut keys that were a must in the character based era. Now almost any task can be accomplished by a mouse click. For example, in a DOS environment, to copy a fie one needs to know the command for copying files, exact syntax and so on, whereas in Windows environment, you just have to drag the files you want to copy form the source to destination. Similarly, almost all the tasks could be performed by mouse clicks.
